The original kitchen built in 1987 was dated, dark and too small for a large family. One of the cabinet doors didn’t even open all the way because it hit the adjacent cabinet. It was necessary to create space for 2 or more cooks in the kitchen at once. We took out the penninsula and expanded the kitchen cabinets to span the entire space. A large island was added with seating for four. A beautiful focal point was created with a paneled stove hood and patterened cement tiles with large windows flanking on each side.
